Japanese driving requirements
- A valid Taiwan driving licence.
- An approved Japanese translation of that licence.
Japanese translation route
Approved translation channels:
- Japan Automobile Federation (JAF).
- Taiwan-Japan Relations Association.
- The Taiwan licence issuing authority or Taiwan consular office in Japan, where permitted by NPA guidance.
YAH KART participation requirements
- Original valid Taiwan driving licence.
- Approved Japanese translation in the required physical form.
- Original passport.
Original documents only. Electronic documents, phone photos, PDFs, scans and photocopies are not accepted.
Entry and eligibility checks
- An original passport or another official document may be used to confirm identity and date of landing in Japan for eligibility checks. It is not part of an IDP itself.
